The Study On International Division Status Of China's Textile Industry And The Influential Factors Under The Global Production Network

Textile industry is an important industry of China's national economy and people's livelihood.After the reform and opening up,the export-oriented development strategy has made China's textile export trade developing rapidly,and the scale of trade has become the world's largest.The exports of China's textiles and clothing reached $282 billion 899 million,accounting for about 38%of the world's total exports of textiles and clothing in 2015.In recent years,with China's economic development entering into the new norm and deepening the supply-side reform,the economic development is changing from expanding demand to expanding domestic demand and paying more attention to increasing effective supply of high quality,the absolute amount of economic development hasn't blindly sought fast but adjusted to a reasonable range.In addition,Pakistan,India,Vietnam and other countries have a rapid development of textile industry owing to advantage of cheap labor force.China's textile exports fell in 2015.However,China's textile industry trade scale still maintain a steady upward trend.However,textile industry,one of our country's traditional industries,has a relatively complete production system,the problem is that the trade gains is not consistent with the amount of exports,as a major producer and exporter of textile products in the world,China is still at the low end of the international division.In the world economic globalization,all countries are actively involved in the global division of labor in the global value chain,sharing the economic achievements after embedded into the global production network,while also actively exploring the way to improve the division of labor in the global value chain and enhance the profit ability in order to get more trade benefits in international trade.Therefore,accurately measuring the international division status of the textile industry and analysing the influential factors are important for industrial development.Based on this background,this paper first makes an analysis and international comparison of the current export situation of China's textile industry,then this paper based on the exclusion of the repeated calculation,using the world input-output model at industrial level and using the method of Wang et al(2013)to decompose and analyse the textile industrial added value of exports in China from 1995 to 2011 at the national and bilateral level.Then "Global Value Chain Position Indices",suggested by Koopman et al(2010),is used to measure the international division status of a country in the textile industry.And it is adopted to calculate the international division status of China's textile industry from 1995 to 2011 and make comparison with other countries.Finally,this paper is based on measurement to analyse the factors that affect the international division status of the textile industry,and analyse the influence of various factors on different levels.The following conclusions are obtained:First,as a big country of trade in goods,the export scale of China's textile industry has a absolute advantage,the mode of trade has been optimized constantly,the main trade area has still concerntraded in the traditional markets.Second,the textile industrial added value of exports shows that level of participation in international division of labor has constantly improved,the profitability has tended to be enhanced.Third,the international division status is measured by "Global Value Chain Position Indices".The higher indices,the higher international division status.The periodic changes of international division status of China's textile industry are like "N".In general,after more than ten years of development,the international division status of China's textile industry has been rising gradually,but there is still a gap between our country and the developed countries in the indices.China is the first of the textile export scale in the world,while the international division status does not have the same advantage as export scale.Fourth,through the empirical analysis of influential factors,this paper draws the conclusions that labor productivity,foreign direct investment,communication and technological innovation have more significant impact on international division status of China's textile industry,and the labor productivity has the greatest impact.The capital,the level of economic development and the level of trade freedom have no significant impact on the international division status of China's textile industry.
