In the 21 st century, with the rapid development of science and technology, economic globalization ushers in a new climax.China’s textile industry has developed rapidly and has become a major textile producer and exporter in the world. However, whether it can develop into a textile trade power remains questionable.Since the reform and opening up,China has undertaken the textile production from Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan, and has successfully promoted the rapid development of China’s textile industry by relying on low labor costs and the endowment of primary production factors such as natural resources into the global value chain. However, most of these production is limited to entrusted processing or OEM,resulting in the lack of independent innovation capacity of China’s textile industry, and low product complexity and export technology content, leading to China’s textile industry being at the low end of the global value chain for a long time.To enhance the international division of labor of China’s textile industry in the global value chain,we need not only to strengthen research at the theoretical level, but also to solve the problem in practice.First of all, this paper combs and summarizes the global value chain theory, the status of international division of labor, and the related literature of China’s textile industry;Starting from the theory of international division of labor and the theory of trade value added, explain the relevant concepts of global value chain and textile industry; This paper analyzes the production and export of China’s textile industry from the current situation, and summarizes the opportunities and internal and external challenges faced by China’s textile industry.Secondly, the total export of China’s textile industry is decomposed using the method of trade value added. From both domestic and foreign aspects, the total export is divided into four parts, and the proportion of domestic and foreign added value,GVC participation index and GVC status index are constructed. The international division of labor status of China’s textile industry in the global value chain is calculated. At the same time, the representative developed countries and developing countries in the textile industry in the world are selected for comparative analysis. Finally, the influencing factors of improving the international division of labor status of China’s textile industry in the global value chain are empirically analyzed, and the countermeasures and suggestions are put forward from the perspective of enterprises and the governmentBased on this, the following conclusions can be drawn: First, from the total export volume,it can be seen that China’s total export volume of textiles ranks first in the world, but it is mainly limited to low-end product exports, and the links with high added value are in the hands of developed countries; It can be seen from the export regions that China’s textile exports are mainly concentrated in traditional markets.Under the initiative of the "the Belt and Road",the potential of emerging markets in the future is good, and trade diversification is gradually emerging; From the way of export trade,we can see that the proportion of China’s textile processing trade is gradually decreasing, and it is developing towards the international division of labor with high added value.Second,China’s textile industry is still in the lower reaches of the global value chain, which is still far away from the major textile industry countries in the world. However, the international division of labor of China’s textile industry has been on the rise in recent years, and it is getting rid of the low-end lock-in dilemma; In recent years, the GVC status index of textile industry powers with high-level R&D capabilities and independent innovation capabilities has declined, but the GVC status index of China’s textile industry still maintains a positive upward trend.Third, the empirical study found that the positive role of labor productivity is the largest.Although China’s labor comparative advantage is obvious,it lacks highly skilled labor talents.Textile enterprises should pay attention to the training of high-end talents;China’s textile industry can narrow the gap between China and developed countries in scientific research, technology and talents by introducing foreign direct investment; To promote the international division of labor of China’s textile industry,we must increase technological innovation, optimize the industrial structure, make the resource-based industry change to "innovation driven",and achieve high added value;Optimizing the skill structure of human capital is also crucial to improving the international division of labor status of the textile industry.
