Research On The Status Of China's Manufacturing International Division Of Labor And Its Influencing Factors From The Perspective Of Global Value Chain

Since the reform and opening up,along with unremitting progress of science technique,they promote the social productivity to develop quickly.Meanwhile,the process of economic globalization and integration has continued to deepen,which promotes the relationship among different countries,as a result,companies in different countries have been connected to each other through different global value chains and formed a new international division of labor system by the upstream and downstream enterprises.China's manufacturing industry also divides work according to the value chains,and it has been brought into the international distribution,at the same time,there is a continuing increase in the level of participating international division.However,the position of the global value chains of manufacturing industries in the global production network is very different from one another,and it determines the country's interests in the trade.Hence,it is essential to estimate and explore the factors of influencing the position of Chinese manufacturing industry in contemporary international division of labor,which can further plan policy and promote its status in the international division of labor.Therefore,this paper intends to estimate the position of Chinese manufacturing industry in the international division of labor and analyze its influencing factors by empirical studies.By reviewing the related theories and literature both at home and abroad,this dissertation firstly introduces the development in Chinese manufacturing industry and analyzes the main features of its development and the problems underlying many aspects of Chinese manufacturing industry,and finding that Chinese manufacturing industry lacks the ability in independent innovation.This dissertation then estimates the overall level of Chinese manufacturing and its individual industry respectively by the model of GVC participant index and GVC site index,and the results suggest that Chinese manufacturing industry has largely integrated into the global value chain;however,the positions of Chinese manufacturing and its specific industries in the international division of labor are still at lower level.Next,this dissertation verifies the factors of influencing the position of Chinese manufacturing industry in contemporary international division of labor by regression analysis of panel data combining with the law of comparative advantage and factor endowment theory,and the results show that there is no obvious positive relationship between the abundant labor and the position,in contrast,the capital investment,R&D investment and FDI can effectively improve the position of international division of labor.Every one percentage point increase in capital investment,international division of labor increased by 0.642 percentage points;R&D investment(R&D)every one percentage point increase in the status of the international division of labor will increase 0.215 percentage points;the introduction of a percentage of foreign capital from abroad,international division of labor will increase 0.164 percentage points.Finally,this dissertation puts forward the corresponding policy and suggestions on the basis of theoretical and evidential analysis.Introducing a new and advanced direction would be the primary consideration,and government should be also concerned with consolidating the capital accumulation,increasing investment in innovation and scientific researches and attracting foreign investment.Only in this way can the Chinese manufacturing industry promote its position in the global value chain.
