Economic globalization and trade liberalization have created a global division of labor system in the value chain of product design,production and sales,which has become the main way for countries to participate in the international division of labor.However,in recent years,due to the new changes in the international power balance,the continuous fermentation of Sino-US trade frictions and the global outbreak of COVID-19,the division of labor system of global value chains has suffered a great impact and is facing profound adjustment and reconstruction.At the same time,China’s manufacturing industry,on the one hand,is restricted by the imbalance of domestic industrial structure,the limited creation of product added value and the bottleneck of technological development,and so on,the high-quality development of manufacturing industry faces great challenges.On the other hand,for a long time,China’s manufacturing industry has relied on low-cost labor factors and resource factors,and participated in the global value chain division system with the processing trade mode characterized by "both ends outside",which will face the risk of low-end value-added links being locked.In the critical period of global value chain reconstruction,China’s manufacturing industry urgently needs to innovate its development concept,adjust the factor input structure,and restructure its competitive advantages,so as to enhance its international division of labor and promote its high-quality development.With the accelerated integration and penetration of digital technology into the industrial field,the continuous emergence of digital concepts represented by intelligent manufacturing has provided a new development direction and upgrading path for the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.With the gradual penetration of digital elements into international trade,it not only changes the mode of domestic production and consumption,but also profoundly affects the mode of trade and income distribution of international division of labor.In the process of promoting the digital integration of traditional trade in goods and services,digital technology is gradually changing the embedding cost,production mode and interaction mode of global value chain,and the form of international division of labor is gradually shifting to "digital global value chain" trade.In this background,this paper combined with the existing research,using the method of combining theoretical analysis and empirical analysis,from the state and enterprises double perspective to explore the status of global value chain and digital China manufacturing international division of labor theory mechanism and effect,and by building a digital measure global value chain framework,explores the main characteristic of China’s manufacturing industry into the digital global value chain,To further promote the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry to provide reliable policy reference.The main research contents of this paper are as follows: The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background and significance of the research,sorts out the ideas of the article,constructs the content framework,describes the research methods,reviews the current research involved in the topic of the article,and expounds the innovation and shortcomings of the article.Chapter 2 is the theoretical expansion and mechanism deconstruction of the digitalization of global value chain and the international division of labor of manufacturing.Based on the existing research and the method of literature analysis,the economic connotation of the key variables involved in the paper is expounded.Based on the theories of digital economy,international division of labor and international trade cost,To construct the theoretical mechanism of digitization of global value chain and promotion of international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry from both national and enterprise perspectives.Chapter 3 is the construction of the digital measurement framework of global value chain and the analysis of the realistic characteristics.On the basis of the construction of the digital measurement framework of global value chain,the main characteristics of the integration of Chinese manufacturing industry into the digital global value chain,the division of labor and positioning of the manufacturing industry in the world’s major economies and the realistic characteristics of the digitalization of regional value chain are compared and analyzed.Chapter 4 is the index construction of international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry and the analysis of its realistic characteristics.Based on the construction of the measurement framework of international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry,it analyzes the realistic characteristics and characteristics of international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry from multiple perspectives.Chapter 5 analyzes the relationship between the digitalization of global value chain and the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry,focusing on the comparison of the actual characteristics of Chinese manufacturing industry’s participation in the traditional international division of labor system and the digital division of labor of global value chain.This paper analyzes the factors influencing the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry and the specific effects of digitization of global value chain from the perspective of whole and industry with the method of hierarchical structure decomposition analysis.Chapter 6 is the empirical analysis of the digitalization of global value chain and the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry.Based on the existing research work and the analysis results of theoretical mechanism,the econometric model is constructed from the national and enterprise levels to analyze the impact of digitalization of global value chain on the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry.On this basis,we carry out the research work of robustness test,heterogeneity test and influence mechanism analysis,and expand and analyze the spatial effect of digitalization of global value chain on the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry.Chapter 7 is the conclusion and policy enlightenment.Based on theoretical discussion,current situation analysis and empirical research conclusions,it summarizes relevant policy enlightenment for China to further optimize the performance of international division of labor in the manufacturing industry and build new drivers for the rise of global value chain in China’s manufacturing industry.Based on theoretical and empirical analysis,the conclusions of this paper are summarized as follows:(1)China has become the largest manufacturing digital trading country in the world,and digital domestic value added is the main driving force for the growth of China’s manufacturing digital trade;The digital value added of manufacturing industry in China increases mainly through simple production activities in developed and developing economies,while the digital value added of manufacturing industry in developed countries is much higher than that in developing countries due to complex production activities.Chinese manufacturing industry’s participation in digital global value chain has experienced a transformation from digital value input to digital value output.(2)China’s manufacturing industry is mainly integrated into the division of labor system of digital global value chain through forward participation,and it is at the middle level in the positioning of digital global value chain.Developed economies led by the United States occupy the leading position of manufacturing digital trade.The digital value-added export of China’s manufacturing industry is highly dependent on the market of developed economies.The distribution range of the economies dependent on the forward digital value-added export is wider,and the distribution of the economies dependent on the backward digital value-added export is more concentrated.Based on the hierarchical structure decomposition analysis,it is found that the positive changes of the relative attribute factor of export domestic value added and the digital attribute factor of global value chain can significantly improve the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry.(3)At the national level,the digitalization of global value chain has significantly improved the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry,and this conclusion has passed a number of robustness tests,such as index replacement,endogeneity problem,missing variables,external impact and sample data differentiation.Through the construction of the moderating effect model of trade cost and R&D input,it is found that the decrease of trade cost and the increase of national R&D input can significantly enhance the positive promotion effect of global value chain digitalization in trading partners.In addition,the expansion analysis further found that the improvement of the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry has a spatial effect,and the change of the international division of labor status of neighboring trading partners has an impact on the international division of labor status of China’s manufacturing industry,which is prominently manifested by positive spatial agglomeration and spatial spillover effect.The digitalization of global value chain has positive direct and indirect effects on the promotion of the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry.That is,the digitalization of global value chain of trading partners not only promotes the promotion of the international division of labor of their own manufacturing industry,but also has positive spatial spillover effects on the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry.(4)At the enterprise level,the digitalization of global value chain significantly improves the international division of labor status of Chinese manufacturing enterprises,and this conclusion has passed a number of robustness tests,such as sample selection bias,index replacement,endogenous problem handling,external impact and missing variables,etc.The conclusion is reliable.The digitalization of global value chain promotes the promotion of the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry through four channels: improving the total factor productivity of enterprises,reducing the trade cost of enterprises,enhancing the quality of enterprises’ export products and improving the innovation capability of enterprises.Based on the existing research and relevant theoretical basis,this paper extends the connotation of digital trade into the division of labor theory of global value chain,scientifically constructs the theoretical mechanism at the national and enterprise levels,and explores the characteristic changes of Chinese manufacturing industry’s participation in the international division of labor pattern brought by the integration of digital elements into global value chain.This paper empirically analyzes the influence and internal mechanism of digitalization of global value chain on the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry.It not only enriches the theoretical content of digital trade and global value chain,but also provides policy reference for exploring new drivers of the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry,which has certain theoretical research value and practical reference significance.By comparing the existing researches,this paper has the following research innovations: first,it expands the connotation and extension of digital trade,innovates the theory of global value chain division of labor,and constructs the theoretical mechanism of digitization of global value chain and international division of labor of Chinese manufacturing industry from the dual perspectives of countries and enterprises.Second,it constructs the digital measurement framework of global value chain for the first time based on the traditional value-added trade accounting system,analyzes the main characteristics of Chinese manufacturing industry’s participation in the digital division of global value chain,and analyzes it from the multi-dimensional perspectives of two-way digital correlation,digital dependency,international comparison and regional development.The third is to expand the new application of traditional research methods.Based on the digitization of global value chain and the index measurement of the international division of labor position of China’s manufacturing industry,this paper brings the hierarchical structure decomposition analysis method into the study of the influence relationship between the digitization of global value chain and the international division of labor position of China’s manufacturing industry,and reveals the influence effect of the digitization attribute of global value chain on the international division of labor position of China’s manufacturing industry and the dynamic change of the influence relationship.In addition,a spatial econometric model is constructed to analyze the spatial effect of digitization of global value chain on the international division of labor of China’s manufacturing industry.
