In the process of the urbanization in China, the floating population is making a fundamental impact on the development of Chinese city regions. However, the study of impact of floating population redistribution on spatial structure of city regions needed to be further conducted.According to the classical theory and empirical study, this paper takes the spatial structure of the Pearl River Delta as the study object, using qualitative and quantitative methods based on the 2000-2010 census and 1827 valid questionnaires data.Firstly,I analyzed the redistribution of the floating population in the Pearl River Delta from the macroscopic perspective.Secondly,I described the migration process of the floating population in the Pearl River Delta from the micro perspective.Thirdly,I verified the spatial structure of the city regions in the Pearl River Delta by various quantized methods. Finally,I analyzed the impact of redistribution of floating population on spatial structure in the Pearl River Delta.Based on the above analysis and judgment, brief planning policies planning, the shortcomings of this research and the future research are put forward. The study found that: 1)During the redistribution of the floating population, the concentration of floating population has been strengthened from 2000 to 2010,mainly in the core areas and central hinterland of the Pearl River Delta city regions, but there are still some floating population gathering in other peripheral areas.2)In the process of migration, the floating population mainly presents a model of continuous migrated to high-grade central cities, and still considers the more developed areas of mega-cities,big cities or slightly medium-sized cities in the relocation choice.3)From 2000 to 2010,spatial structure of city regions in the Pearl River Delta transformed from the 1 main center and 8 subcenters to 1 main center and 11 subcenters. And there are 3 kinds of population concentration and diffusion models, the central growth type of proliferation, hinterland diffusion and centripetal aggregation.4)There are 4 impacts of floating population on the spatial structure of city regionss. The first is to strengthen the regional core growth. The second is to promote the regional periphery to the central gathering. The third is to impel the regional core to the surrounding expansion. The forth is to determine the formation of subcenters.
