The Regional Distribution Of Medicine Manufacturing Industry In China

Since Krugman put forward the theory of new economic geography,regional distribution of industry has become one of the important research fields of economics.Because of its large economic contribution,high content of science and technology and strong association with people's livelihood,the medicine manufacturing industry has been highly valued by the central and local government.After the reform and opening up,China medicine manufacturing industry maintains a good situation of development.However,the regional distribution of medicine manufacturing industry is not reasonable,the degree of industrial agglomeration is low,regional redundant construction still exists,which is good for further enhancing the competitiveness of the medicine manufacturing industry.Therefore,the optimization of the medicine manufacturing industry regional distribution,and the implementation of the efficient development of medicine manufacturing industry through the adjustment of the space structure are the pressing matter of the moment for the Chinese government.Based on the theory of regional distribution and related literature of the regional distribution,the paper investigates development history and present status of China medicine manufacturing industry and evolution of medicine manufacturing industry.The medicine industry has experienced starting,slow growth,rapid development,increase of the quality and efficiency,the total industry scale unceasingly expands.The production subjects are increasingly diversified,and the industry structure gradually optimizes.According to the output of value,number of enterprises,number of employees and other indicators,the medicine manufacturing industry most distributes in the eastern region,central comes second,west and northeast area least,but the trend of medicine industry transfer ring from the eastern to the central area has taken place.Medicine manufacturing industry has formed distribution pattern of Shandong,Jiangsu as the representative,Henan,Jilin,Guangdong,Zhejiang as focus.The overall agglomeration degree is still low,the provincial level of specialization is not high.The levels of specialization in Jilin,Beijing,Jiangxi,Heilongjiang,Sichuan,Shanxi,Shandong,Jiangsu are comparatively better.However,the regional distribution of medicine manufacturing industry is not reasonable.There are still problems of low level of industry agglomeration,insufficient division of regional specialization and low agglomeration level.According to the related theories and literature,combining with the characteristics medicine manufacturing industry,factors that influence regional distribution of medicine manufacturing industry China mainly include the resources endowment,labor cost,transportation cost,the level of technological innovation,local protection,opening to the outside world.Medical resource rich regions will attract medicine manufacturing enterprises that use the resources as raw materials to locate in the area.The area of low labor costs will attract companies to settle in the place,after settlement enterprises will continue to attract the inflow of labor,the labor costs remaining at a low level.Medicine manufacturing industry is a high-tech industry,regions science of higher level of technology innovation can improve the competitiveness of the industry through technology spillover,talent support,joint research and development.The high cost of transportation will cause the enterprise to distribute near the raw material or the sales market area.Preferential policies released by local government and set-up of barriers to entry and exit,to some extent,hinder the medicine manufacturing enterprises to shift to the optimal location.As for the area of high level of opening up,foreign investment and trade will bring knowledge spillover,demonstration effect,reduction of transaction costs and other benefits to attract business location.Chinese medicine manufacturing industry should further optimize the regional distribution,improve the level of industry concentration,form the regional development pattern of cooperation with division of labor and complementary advantages,play a key role in technological innovation,accelerate the upgrading of industry agglomeration.First,accelerate the construction of innovation platform;second,promote the free flow of labor force;third,eliminate all kinds of local protection as soon as possible;fourth,further reduce transportation costs;fifth,increase the intensity of reform and opening up.
