Innovation is becoming more and more important for enterprises to enhance their competitiveness.New product development is the inevitable way to innovation,so the proper R&D process will do much help to facilitate the innovation.C Group,as a leading enterprise in server research and development industry,adheres to the concept of innovation to win the market.It has won wide praise of the market through innovative products,improved server performance,reliability and stability of products.C Group’s R&D process improvement will do much help to improve the efficiency of new products development,and occupy the market.This thesis studied the mature development process management theory: The Stage-Gate System,IPD and Project Management.Based on those basic theories,in-depth analysis of the C Group R&D process has been executed.Group C has accumulated rich experience in server development and production in the worldwide server market place.It also has reliable workflow for the server research and development,and based on this process it has completed the development of many products,recognized by the market.This thesis analyzed every aspect of its development process,and tried to look for worthy process optimization options.Then several improper processes were found in C group’s R&D process,such as supplier management,Knowledge Management,serial workflow,product lifecycle after mass production.Based on the theory and problems faced by the Group,several suggestions are brought out,such as the parallel workflow during R&D process,product lifecycle management,supplier management etc.Those server development process improvement measures have addressed the problems identified in the research.Modifying the development process has accommodated efficient,fast server development process.
