With the development of logistics automation and the growing cost of human resources, the need of automative storage and retrieval in logistics is becoming urgent. There are new intensive automated warehouses which make the automative manufacturing and logistics more convenient for people. At the same time, the needs of automated warehouse become more and more diversified and the efficiency of inbound/outbound task of that becomes higher.This paper mainly studies the automated inbound system in order picking logictics which is applied to large varieties and small quantities and is based on aotonomous vehicle storage and retrieval system(AVS/RS).The implementation of this project will greatly improve the economic benefits and social benefit in automated warehouse equipment enterprises and enterprises that related to them.In this paper, the functions that inbound system has to achieve have been analyzed. AVS/RS has been chosen to accomplish the inbound task. The overall design of the inbound system has been done which contains the design of the automatic replenishment process and the replenishment plan. Then, the mechanical structure of RGV has been designed and so has the elevator. Next, simple Genetic Algorithm(GA) and improved GA are taken into analyzing the scheduling strategy of the AVS/RS using MATLAB.The total time of the tasks in different number of RGV have been compared, so that the influence on the inbound system could be seen. Also, the convergence of the results has been compared. Finally, the simulation model has been created in Flexsim analyzing the visualization operation of the inbound system of different number of RGV. The utilization rate of key equipments and cargo waiting time are obtained to verify the inbound system performance.This research that studies the automoted inbound system in order picking logistics has mainly achieved the following functions: separate inbound/outbound, instant inbound/ outbound, a group in and a single out. That is separate inbound/outbound system and large package storage system in extra space. It is innovative that inbound and outbound systems of the warehouse are separated as two independent systems. And it has great significances in improving warehouse capacity and fitting the needs of industry. In addition, it is a highly innovative application to use AVS/RS in the automated inbound system.
