The fast development of world trade promoted the growth of container international transportation also brought a great challenge to port operation and management. The world container transportation gravity gradually transfer from European and American area to Asia Pacific area, small port throughput had become a bottleneck to restrict the development of container port modernization in Asian and Pacific area. In order to enhance the throughput capacity of port, major ports were planning to invest large money for building novel container terminals, aimed at improving operational efficiency of container terminals, increasing port business, enhancing port competitive power. A novel container port logistics system was proposed under this new situation.A novel container port logistics system is the key of port modernization. The characteristics of novel container port are energy saving, smart and efficient. The characteristics and requirements of container port handling process were researched, novel port mechanical equipment were planed and selected, novel container port handling process was developed, and its feasibility was qualitative analyzed. Novel handling equipments were produced by AutoCAD for simulation. A method of container ship section and yard bay section were proposed, the operational cycle time of novel quayside container crane and novel yard crane calculated closely. Compared with the common quayside container crane and yard crane, novel handling equipments with higher operational efficiency, they were more suitable for modern container port logistics. Each elements of novel container port logistics system was planed by many methods, including determination of the number of berths, the number of quayside container cranes, the yard areas and traffic roads layout of container port etc, the layout of the new container port planning was drew. The basic composition and simulation methods of Flexsim were researched. a simulation model of novel container port logistics was established. Some parameters of logistics system were analyzed, different allocated programs of novel handling equipments were designed, the bottleneck of each program was found, working performance of each program was carried on qualitative statistics and comparison in order to obtain the optimal program.
