FPGA technology in network communications and electronic information fields have mature application, with high reliability, high performance features compared with micro-processor technology. There is a risk-free operating system, the hardware structure similar to the advantages of simulation system. In addition, FPGA technology as well as the complexity of the small, easy to verify, good compatibility, high data processing speed, throughput, abundant logic resources, etc. Therefore, FPGA technology has a huge advantage in the network test systems.In order to meet the testing requirements for IPv6 Gigabit Ethernet network and devices capable of quantitative indicators of IPv6 network equipment technical parameters such as throughput, delay, packet loss rate, back to back, and a series of load balancing measure system performance, the test system is adequate in using FPGA technology. Programmable logic device FPGA chip is the main core, high-speed digital integrated circuits based on the design of a test IPv6 Gigabit Ethernet network card. The IPv6 Gigabit Ethernet test card with a dedicated test chassis supporting software testing platform constitutes IPv6 Gigabit Ethernet test system in order to achieve IPv6 network testing.This paper focuses on the structure, working mechanism of the test board hardware, including the main components of test board, interfaces, and communication bus with a dedicated test case, test software platform after with a complete IPv6 network test systems, and the IPv6 network protocol stack IPv6 test system for testing and analyzing the results and so on.Finally, using H3C high-performance Gigabit Router as a network device to be tested, the test systems are tested to verify IPv6 Gigabit Ethernet, the analysis shows:The test system test throughput, delay, packet loss rate, load balancing, back to back, QoS and other performance indicators are in line with national testing standards, to achieve wire-speed processing capability, high cost, and the system can also facilitate future expansion and upgrade. Therefore, the IPv6 network test system has broad application prospects and market value.
