The Industrial Internet is a new technology that combines the Internet and industry network.As an important supporting technology for Industrial Internet,Industrial Ethernet,has received extensive attention in the Industry.It achieves higher reliability,real-time,and high-speed transmission of critical data by improving standard Ethernet protocol.EtherCAT is one of the mainstream Industrial Ethernet protocol,it makes efficient data transmission through a unique scheme of communication mechanisms,which has characteristics of low cost,flexible wiring and low transmission delay.Now,it is approved by the IEC as an international standard and widely used in industrial network.IPv6 is the next-generation Internet protocol proposed by IETF.Compared with IPv4 protocol,IPv6 has significant advantages on the address space,quality of service,etc.With the evolution and application of IPv6 in the Internet,it is a great challenge to achieve seamless interconnection between EtherCAT and IPv6.To make EtherCAT devices connecting with the next-generation Internet.The protocol conversion is the core technology.But there is no work on the conversion scheme of EtherCAT and IPv6 protocol that will hinder the development and application of the EtherCAT network.To solve this problem,this dissertation proposes a novel protocol conversion method between EtherCAT and IPv6 network.On the basis of maintaining the transmission characteristics of EtherCAT network,EtherCAT data is converted into data packets transmitted to the IPv6 network.The main work of this dissertation as follows:1.This dissertation analyzes the EtherCAT and IPv6 protocol,introduces the packet transmission characteristics and the key technologies of two networks.Then we analyze the main issues that need to be resolved to implement the conversion between EtherCAT and IPv6 packet protocol.2.A protocol conversion scheme is proposed in this dissertation,aiming at the requirement of seamless connectivity between EtherCAT and IPv6 network.It mainly includes,the acquisition and identification of EtherCAT packets method,network frame format conversion method,priority conversion method,slave address conversion method,the extension header added,and IPv4 header to IPv6 on EtherCAT open mode.Finally,the EtherCAT data packets are converted to IPv6 format while preserving the characteristics of EtherCAT network.3.This dissertation introduces software implementation of the EtherCAT and IPv6 packet conversion method described above.The introduction includes two modules.One is the EtherCAT packet identification module,it implements the acquisition of EtherCAT packets from the master and then transmits the data,belonging to each slave,to the conversion unit separately.The other module is the protocol conversion module,which implements the protocol conversion function of EtherCAT packets,including priority and slave address conversion and add the extension header.Finally,constructing IPv6 packets then sending it to IPv6 network.4.Build an EtherCAT master-slave experimental platform.Then grab the packets by Wireshark,analysis of packet details.At the same time,test the conversion time and memory consumption of the protocol conversion software.The test result shows that the EtherCAT and IPv6 network protocol conversion method designed by this dissertation can connect EtherCAT field network data to the IPv6-based industrial backbone network effectively.This method promotes the interconnection of Industrial Ethernet and Internet network while preserving the characteristics of EtherCAT.The research of this dissertation has some reference value for the application of EtherCAT in the next-generation Internet.
