Vivid and visualized pictorial historical data, which can compensate for literal historical data, are better certifying and supplying history. Because of its evidential,visualized and vivid features, pictorial historical data is beneficial to create history context to arouse students' interest. Meanwhile, teachers can take advantage of it to develop students' ability of thinking and enable students to learn to appreciate beauty.The application of pictorial historical data in teaching consists of two aspects. On the one hand, teachers can employ it as teaching aids. The pictorial historical data,used as a way of leading in the new lesson, or a way to create the context ,or a medium to bring a class to an end, can enable the effectiveness of teaching in different teaching steps. On the other hand, it can be used as teaching objects. It can be applied not only in class teaching but also in students' exercise to develop students' ability of historical thinking. The pictorial historical data involved in class teaching mainly consists of painting, cartoon and photo. According to its feature, full use can be made in class teaching.Attention should be paid to the application of pictorial historical data in high school's history teaching. First, the choice of pictorial historical data should obey the principles of reality,adaptability and typicality. Furthermore,the application should obey the principles of effectiveness, cooperation and moderation. Last but not least,when using pictorial historical data, we should have appropriate conditions, such as the equipment of media instruction, abundant resources of pictorial historical data,professional teachers with better appreciation of beauty and students with abstract thinking.
