The article mainly traces the growth of minimalism from the perspective of painting.Minimalism,a genre of art,was born in the United States in the 1960s.Thegrowth of Minimalism painting is actually a process of continuous collision between painting and minimalism.The main body of this article consists of three parts.The first part backs to the origin of minimalism,with a focus on the art theory and three art schools that influenced it.The second part summarizes the appearance,frame and development as well as impact of Minimalism,focusing on its own growth and aesthetic system,with a discussion on the new propositions proposed by Minimalism for contemporary art.The key point of the third part is the Minimalism and painting elements embodied in American paintings of the 20th century.And the process of their continuous collision is discussed in the final part.
