The Effect Of Abdominal Acupuncture On Nasal Symptoms And Quality Of Life In Patients With Moderate To Severe Allergic Rhinitis

Objective:To observe the difference in the clinical efficacy and health-related quality of life of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis through Bo's abdominal acupuncture and budesonide nasal spray,objectively evaluate the clinical efficacy and application value of Bo's abdominal acupuncture in the allergic rhinitis therapy.Methods:A randomized controlled design was used to compare between the abdominal acupuncture group and the medication group.33 patients of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis(abdominal acupuncture group)received 4-week acupuncture therapy,three times a week.Acupoints like Yinqiguiyuan(Zhongwan,Xiawan,Qihai,Guanyuan),Shangqu,Huaroumen,Shangfengshidian,Zhongwanshang were adopted.Needles retaining for 30 minutes,three times a week,and 33 patients of the moderate to severe allergic rhinitis(medication group)received budesonide nasal spray for 4 weeks,twice a day.Both nasal symptoms score and subjective perception score for the corresponding symptoms as well as health-related quality of life were recorded before treatment,at 2 and 4 weeks after the start of treatment,Furthermore,the clinical efficacy and safety indicators were compared between the two groups.Using SPSS22.0 statistical software,measurement data through X±S,comparison between the normal distribution measurement data through T test,non-normal distribution data through non-parametric test,counting data to rate,comparison between groups using X2test,P<0.05 means the difference was statistically significant.Results:(1)In the abdominal acupuncture group,both nasal symptoms score and subjective perception score for the corresponding symptoms as well as health-related quality of life have significantly gone down after the treatment(P<0.05).(2)In the medication group,both nasal symptoms score and subjective perception score as well as health-related quality of life have significantly gone down after the treatment(P<0.05).(3)The comparison between two groups:nasal symptoms score and subjective perception score for the corresponding symptoms as well as health-related quality of life have both significantly gone down after the treatment,and the medication group was significant better than the abdominal acupuncture within nasal symptoms score and subjective perception score for the corresponding symptoms.While the abdominal acupuncture group shows much better than the control group in the symptom along with insomnia.There was no significant difference upon health-related quality of life.Conclusions:Bo's abdominal acupuncture is proven effective in the treatment for moderate to severe allergic rhinitis,which can relieve the symptoms along with allergic rhinitis,in the meanwhile improve patient's quality of life.Due to the characteristic of pain-free and safe,the abdominal acupuncture therapy is easy to accept by patients.Thus,the therapeutics of Bo's abdominal acupuncture is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
