At present, the main forms of domestic design companies could be divided into the following groups:large integrated design companies, or the professional design companies. Some of large companies which have been founded for a long time, have mature design management systems and wonderful cooperation mechanisms between different majors. However, some small and middle enterprises, because of the simple design tasks and projects, almost are lack of design management systems and major-cooperation mechanisms.BUGET company, founded in 1994, now hold class-A qualification of municipal gas and heat design, class-A qualification of heat and gas project consulting, etc. The company have been developed to nearly a hundred members from a dozen people. The main business content of the company——the project design content has been greatly changed, from the small and mono-disciplinary projects early to large and multi-disciplinary plant station project. However, the design management of the company has failed to keep pace with the rapid development of business. The original simple management already can't meet the design market development.In this paper, the theories of modern project schedule management are applied to the design management of the gas and heat industry, and the research of BUGET company's design project schedule management system is carried out. First of all, by using the methods of logical analysis, the typical problems existing in the schedule management system of BUGET company have been revealed. Secondly, taking "the heating project of Beijing Fangshan XXX" as example, the engineering design tasks have been decomposed and the schedules have been planned. The risk assessment has been conducted in seven influencing factors of the project schedule. According to the previous analysis, the six control measures have been carried out, which greatly saves the project duration. In the end, the paper summarizes and develops a set of effective design project schedule management methods for BUGET Co., Ltd., and applies them to the engineering practice.Completing the design tasks with high quality in a reasonable period of time can help BUGET company improve the competitiveness in the market. Hence, it is so important that BUGET company strengthens the design project management in the process of its transformation and upgrade. The establishment of the design project schedule management, which can control project schedule scientifically, plays important practical significance for the BUGET company or similar size professional design companies.
