Cloud impacts on global climate by affecting global radiation budget and thus,Cloud detection is particularly important.The terahertz radar has unique advantages on cloud detection,such as getting more precise cloud three-dimensional structure and inversing more accurate cloud parameters.In this paper,the system design and performance analysis of THz cloud-detection radar are studied.First of all,the radar meteorological equation which used in the practical engineering is introduced,its' influential factors are analyzed,derives meteorological radar equation form of different radar operating systems which provided reference for selecting radar system parameters is introduced.Secondly,system parameters are designed based on the meteorological radar equation,from which the schematic design and simulation of each module are completed.Then,based on system hardware implementation,the modules are tested and the indexes are verified.After each module is certified to be working properly,the system integration is completed.Finally,the terahertz measuring experiment is carried out to validate the cloud radar systems' performance,which including range resolution measurement and cloud chamber experiment.In addition,An external calibration method is proposed.Obviously,the above conclusions provide guidance and experience for field cloud observation experiment.
