Cardiovascular diseases have become the leading cause of death in China.Most of the death caused by these diseases is because the old solitary people are left unattended.They cannot get timely treatment when they suffer sudden diseases.The remote monitoring system can implement real-time monitoring for the elderly and provide timely alert when they are in urgent for help.It can mitigate the issue mentioned above and relieve the pressure of hospitals.In the home care monitoring system for the elderly,the smart home gateway acts as the connector between sensor network and Internet,providing services like data transmission and health alarm.But the prevalent researches and products cannot guarantee long-time and continuous monitoring,they are also not user-friendly and consume huge system resources because of the mass data.To solve these problems,this thesis proposed a ARM and Android operation system-based smart home gateway.It can obtain data from the wearable smart clothing in real-time,and send these data to the health care server via Internet after data processing,data compression and data storing.The thesis described the architecture of the home gateway firstly,then the hardware design and software design were described,at last,functional modules of the home gateway were tested.The specific content of this thesis is as follows:1.Demand analysis and the system design of home gateway.Demand analysis of home gateway was implemented according to the structure of the remote monitoring system for the elderly.The system design of home gateway was proposed.2.Hardware design of home gateway.The Exynos4412 produced by Samsung was selected as the main control module of home gateway.Network communication modules,TF card port,HDMI and IrDA port,video module and power module were designed,prototype of home gateway was made.3.Software design of home gateway.Firstly,the embedded Android operation system was transplanted to the hardware platform of home gateway.Then an Application(APP)was developed based on the Android platform according to the demands of home gateway.At last,an ECG data compression algorithm based on down-sampling and DCT was Applied to the gateway to reduce the system resource consumption because of the mass data.4.Test on home gateway.The test content comprises the test of home gateway and the evaluation of ECG compression algorithm.A test environment was established and several tests of home gateway were performed.Data from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database was employed to test the compression algorithm of ECG.Test results shows that the home gateway can obtain,store and transmit the three-lead ECG data and the three-axis acceleration signals.The average compression ratio of ECG signals is more than 12 times,the distortion of reconstructed signal can be controlled around 1.29%,and the algorithm consumes less time.It can be Applied to the real-time storage and transmission of home gateway.The home gateway is scalability and operates easily.It can meet the basic demands of remote health monitoring for the elderly.
