User Research And Design Of Healthcare Assistant At Home For Elderly

Aging society in China is coming faster, and elderly population is large. The social problems of aging are more prominent, the proportion of elderly people living alone and the prevalence rate is increased year by year, especially the chronic diseases. As a edge group of technological development, the elderly healthcare in the computer and interactive design field obtain more and more attentions. Thus, the author focus on the elderly, designed a home health assistant for elderly with the method of User Centered Design. Remind the elderly intelligently and generate medical records through monitor the health status. What will facilitate older people themselves understand their own physical condition, and also provide a convenient for doctor's diagnosis.This paper work is constituted of four parts, literature review, requirements analysis, concept and interactive design, and system development. Firstly, the author summarize the related work of researches in elderly family health field. Then the author limits the target users to the elderly with chronic diseases, children, and doctor. and also establish the persona and typical scenarios, and extract the user needs. Then the author defines the function structure of system, including daily health monitor, medical record, system set and emergency call. After that, the author designs the prototype from low-fi prototype to hi-fi prototype, and several evaluating have also been done during this period. Finally, develop the system with the technology of android.The study have explored of the family support medical applications for elderly and successfully developed the system of elderly home health assistant. Implement some function such as blood pressure monitor remind, settings, medical records, time sent and emergency call etc. System played a very good reminder for elderly who do not pay attention of the health, and obtained the satisfactory evaluations in user test.
