This paper firstdescribesthe significance of the establishment of information management system.After many years of development,the Steelmaking Department of XINXING DUCTILEIRON PIPES Co.,LTD increase the annual output from the original 100 thousand tons to the present exceeded 2 million tons with more and more diversified smelting Steel classifications,abundant the amount of information and information types,clearly the work flow,social division of labor was more detailed.The original manual statistical methods are not adapted to the needs of the rapid acquisition of information increasingly.There is an urgent need to develop a set of system to adaptto newdemands in the Internet era,which could integrate all the aspects of enterpriseinformation,providewith the function of statistics,analysis and summary.Based on the actual operation mode of the Steelmaking department,the information demand and function structure of the steel making department was analyzed in detail.Used C/S structure,that is,Client/Server(client / server)structure,assigned the task to Client and Server rationally.The user's program was mainly in the client side,the server side mainly provided data management,data sharing,data and system maintenance and concurrency control,etc.The client program mainly to complete the user's specific business.This paper uses the PowerBuilder language as thedeveloped tool of the customer-end system as well as the Sqlserver2008 and sybase11 as the background database.It makes full use of the advantages of the rapid developed speed features and powerful data window function.In order to continue to use these data there are some modules are still stored in the Sybase database.The original small programs were developed by Sybasedatabase and the new developed function adopt Microsoft's sqlserver2008 database.This paper describes the background and significance of the development of information management system,focusing on the requirements of information management and the establishment of functional module use case diagram;detailed introduces the process of database design,including the establishment of entity E-R map,the main table logical structure design and description of the system login,user rights,the pound room system,inspection and testing system,production data,two central system.And the design of system authentication,user authentication test.At last,the paper summarizes the paper,and puts forward the prospect of the further improvement of the system.At present,the system has been launched and achieved the expected goal with normal operation.The leadership of the Steelmaking department every day can gotinformation from the system of the cost per ton of steel,iron and steel smelting furnace,material consumption,raw material consumption etc.All department managers can understand the production information of the Department from the system and the professional director of the agency can get the information he needs.Each person is a provider of information,but also the enjoyment of the information.The system had became the information center of the entire staff of the Steelmaking department.
