Lukacs was known as a pioneer of Western Marxism.A great debate has arisened all over the world on his theory and him.Intentionally or not,Lukacs and his materialization theory were always mentioned in Communication study.Nowadays,however,Lukacs and his theory have no place in today's Communication study.On the basis of Lukacs's analysis of materialization and alienation in his later years writhing,Ontology of Social Existence,this dissertation attempts to focus on two key concepts in his ontology which are labor and ideology.Especially,the generation of language and communication are promoted by the teleological setting of labor,and how ideology is produced by cultural work.On the basis of the analysis of Lukacs's communication ideas,this dissertation attempts to construct his communication thoughts' continuation and fracture,which has double meanings in two dimensions which respectively are Lukacs himself thoughts and the effects of his thoughts in Marxism.Through the analysis of theoretical resources,this dissertation attempts to use Lukacs's theory and political economy to analyze the alienation of people on the Internet and the audience of labor.This dissertation believes that Internet has yielded to capital and business and has been re-centered when it has seemed to achieve technological empowerment.Moreover,through new materialized ideologies,it takes the form of digital labor to influence and control users who living in it.As a result,it led to the alienation of modern people.This dissertation is divided into four sections.The first chapter analyzes the evolution of Lukacs's early materialization theory into his later years' alienation,and explores its similarities and differences with Marx's concept of alienation,and reinterprets the meaning of the concept of materialization and alienation in the Internet age.This dissertation pointing out that the social platform has become a business platform critically,and new fetishism is being generated on the Internet.The second chapter begins with labor which is a core concept of Lukacsian ontology,and explores the role of the teleological setting of labor played in the work of culture,and analyzes how digital labor and network play generate new Internet ideology.The third chapter analyzes the continuation on Lukacs's communication thoughts.The continuation,on the one hand,originated from the inheritance of his early and late thoughts.On the another hand,his thoughts on communication embodies as much attention as Critical Theory.The last chapter attempts to explore the fracture side of his thoughts from the perspective of ideological history.This chapter attempts to find the reasons why Lukacs and his theory were missing in Communication study.The dissertation believes that the myths of communication created by Schramm and the complexity of Lukacs ideas and fracture have eventually led to the neglect of Lukacs in Communication study.The purpose of this dissertation is to analyzes the contributions that Lukacs's thoughts may made to Communication study,and discusses his possible as a communication scholar.Then poses a question that why Lukacs missing in Communication studies.This dissertation also believes that the neglect of Lukacs in Communication science resulted from the rejection of Marxism by the myth of Communication science which established by Schramm,from the complexity and disconnection of Lukacs' own thoughts,and from by the Critical Theory.
