Women's we media can be classified as women's alternative media.They are managed and controlled by women,and also empower them.Women's issues presented in these media are quite different from those in mainstream media in terms of the starting point,topic selection,and reporting framework.The birth of these"non-mainstream" media in China is closely related to the influence of the Western feminist ideology.However,compared to feminist movements in foreign countries,China' s women's rights lack society movement,and the term "feminism" is still relatively unfamiliar to us Chinese.The new media play an important role in the process of women's rights entering public's perspective.In this context,some gender organizations have started to use new media platform,which is more free and open,to create women's alternative media,supplementing domestic thinking about women's rights with a voice outside the mainstream.As the other end of the communication,the group of followers is the key to the process of women's rights as a public issue.Their concerns about the topic and the enthusiasm for participating in the activities have greatly influenced the feminist movement in China.At the same time,this group of not-so-substantial audiences has also become a new starting point for spreading the topic of women's rights in their social circles.In order to make a preliminary understanding of the followers of the largest women's we media in our country—"Voice of Feminism",the report observes some attributes that they presented in social media,and summarizes three characteristics of them:(1)two groups:break between shallow followers and deep vocalist;(2)"unconscious" follower;(3)distracted followers and the concentrated activists.For further in-depth understanding of this group,the survey report interviewed 8 followers of Voice of Feminism,who are from Nanjing,Yangzhou,Wuhan and so on.They present their media participation behavior from four aspects:their awareness of Voice of Feminism,their opportunity and motivation for attention,their text interaction and practice action.They present their gender role identity from two aspects:gender awareness and appreciation of gender.To Voice of Feminism itself,this survey report also aim to reveal some limitations in the dissemination of practice,how to break their limitations,how to enter the audience's social circle,and help them connect the break of their ideas and actions,are some problems faced by such feminist we media.
