Huaibei is a city located at the junction of Jiangsu,Shandong,Henan and Anhui provinces.As the north gate of Anhui Province,it is also a nationally famous coal-resource-based city with an area of 2741 square kilometers and a population of 2.2 million.Because of the coal resources,Huaibei has achieved rapid development in the past,but now Huaibei also becomes a downturn due to this.In 2009,Huaibei City was listed as the second batch of resource-exhausted cities in China.Over the years,Huaibei has been in economic restructuring.However,for a long time,all people regarded Huaibei as a coal city,even though the city no longer relies solely on coal for economic development.Based on the research of local history,economic development history and image transmission history in Huaibei City,this dissertation researches image construction and dissemination in Huaibei City through participatory observation,in-depth interviews,and questionnaires.Taking Huaibei,a resource-exhausted city as the research object,this paper analyzes and explores the status quo,problems,and countermeasures of its local image building and dissemination from the perspective of mass media.Through this typical case,the author tries to find out what kind of regional image construction and communication strategies should be adopted in resource-exhausted cities in the process of transformation and development.In the research,the author probes into the responsibility and cooperation modes of all kinds of media forces in this process,and on this basis,provides a more valuable outlet for cities that have similar problems.This essay explores the following issues explicitly.1.What is the role and influence of regional image in urban development?2.Construction and Propagation of Regional Image and Problems in the Process of Urban Transformation of Huaibei City.3.What differences exist between Huaibei's city image self-expression and others'Construction?4.How to use all kinds of media forces to overcome stereotypes in cities,complete new regional image building,and promote urban development?In the study,I found that the inevitable problem of Huaibei seeking development is the urban transformation.Huaibei's efforts in deepening the reform of resource-based industries and industries such as eco-agriculture,light industry,and tourism also determine the urgent need to build a brand-new city image for the city's future development.Huaibei City itself has a wealth of space media and cultural media resources,the use of these resources for the shaping of a new Huaibei image will be of great benefit.Huaibei City itself has a wealth of space media and cultural media resources,the use of these resources will help it to create a new Huaibei image.However,it is still at an exploratory time to effectively develop and utilize these media resources to promote a brand-new city image construction and dissemination.Based on the study of the actual conditions of Huaibei during the period of investigation and research,the author puts forward some suggestions on the effective competition of mass media,space media and cultural media to promote the construction and spread of city image.The mass media promotes the building of the city brand;the space media tells the story of the city,and the cultural media enriches the connotation of the city.Also,driven by the development of Internet technology,the world has entered a new era of media convergence and communication.The construction and dissemination of the image of Huaibei City are also in the tide of this era.The image of the region in the new era is closely related to the development of the region,greatly influencing the perception of the outside economic entities and considering the investment in the economic development of the region;it affects people's awareness of the region directly and directly relates to private employment.In the process of research,the author found that although various types of new media technologies have gradually deepened into the life of residents in Huaibei,residents' awareness of using their new media platforms to disseminate their own needs and promote their hometown status quo is not obvious.The changes in the era of communication and the importance of regional image all require exploring a new strategy and spreading ideas of Huaibei's regional image communication.Proposals made by the author include:establishing a professional image building agency and actively implementing interactive communication;paying attention to the private voice at all times and resolutely relying on universal communication;grasping the characteristics of the audience and doing fine and subdividing the mass media;focusing on media convergence and communication.
