The technology of VR(Virtual Reality)is of great interest in many places,such as military,entertainment,medical and so on.Furthermore,VR has already been applied in a series of important applications in recent years.However,factors like repeatability?security?costs need to be strictly control in the research of psychology which bring some restrictions to the design of the experiments of psychology in some way.While we consider the ability of virtual environments provided by the technology of VR which is helpful for the problems that we have concerned before,it can be well explained why VR acts as an auxiliary way which has been widely used in research of psychology.WorldViz is born from the University of California Virtual Environment and Behavior Research Center where researchers mainly focus on social psychology,vision,and spatial cognition in the field of psychology.The system of WorldViz(VR system)concludes both hardware and software system platform which together make the amazing VR environments used in many paper researches.In this paper,the author did a lot work on the psychological experiment modeling and system interaction of visual space cognition on the WorldViz's VR platform.The contributions are as follows:(1)Two virtual experiments that studied the work space based on azimuth and height of visual space were designed and modeled in virtual reality environment of WorldViz.The experiments were inspired by experimental paradigm of the click task of building blocks:the order of the left and right turn of the angle of the subject was recorded as the breadth of memory in orientation-based experiment,while in the height-based experiment,the number of the elevators floors number was counted as the breadth of memory.Consequently,the software program was written and the virtual reality system was used to study the influence of gender and difficulty on the breadth of azimuth-based and height-based visual space according to the design above.(2)An android device was functionalized to remote control the system of VR environment.Firstly,the author designed a wireless communication software module to realize the communication between WorldViz system and android device.Secondly,the author also made an app in android platform to remote interact the WorldViz system.The advantages are obvious,on the one hand,the android device is cheeper than dedicated device.On the other,the senors in android are more than the device provided by WorldViz which means more types of collecting data and more functional control.All these can provide more possibilities.(3)Three ways to collect the head motion info were studied.The first was the measurement of angle by the angle sensor of nVisor SX111 of the VR system in WorldViz;The second way computed the angle from the infrared motion capture system of PPT's marker where the azimuth information can be obtained;The last way used the wireless communication module between Android intelligent device sensor and the WorldViz virtual reality system to obtain the angle data.Meanwhile,the author made a comparison of the three methods.
