The application research of VR technology in medical field is the hot spot of research abroad, however, it is in the beginning step in our country. This paper studies the application of VR technology in medical field in emphasis.The important part in the application of Virtual Reality in medical field is proceed Three-Dimensional Visualization of medical volume data. Firstly, we attempt use MATLAB process the 3-D reconstruction of medical volume data(MATLAB is a software which can be used in the field of data compute and data analyse, and it can be used in the field of Virtual Reality too). We make progress in it.On the basis of this, we classified the traditional methods of 3-D Visualization which base on the computer graphics algorithm, and delve into them. In the end, we deeply analysed the 3-D Visualization which base on the method of Volume Rendering with a concrete software.After we summarized the advantages and disadvantages of different methods, for the purpose of application in clinical medicine, we attempt at using VRML to process the 3-D Visualization of medical volume data, there are no other comparable narration found in our country. Web based and networking is a developing tendency of digital medical image processing in future. VRML is a web based Virtual Reality Modeling Language. The images are processed by modeling in VRML. The 3-D reconstruction of body section can be formed in high quality. We write program to process the dynamic cutting of 3-D model of body section, and we use JavaScript realized the function which 2~D images and 3-D model display at the same time. These met needs the application of clinicians. In prophase of 3-D Visualization, we should process the 2D images of human body section, the process should be acquire the interesting sector of 2D images of body section, eliminate interference noise and so on. Thus, we use the Visual C++ language to write a application software; which can process the 2D images of body section. In the field of calculating the distance of two points in the body internal organ image and in the field of calculating the volume of body organs, we test a new method-stereology, and provide reference experienceof the application of stereology in the medical field. Associating the need of surgeon in practice, we write a software of human body biocycle law. This software can provide a science reliance in the time selection of surgical operation plan to the main surgeon. By the stated above, we have researched the applications of Virtual Reality technology and other related technology in medical field especially in the surgical field. We make progress in it. All of these provided new way of thinking in the further development in future and lay good foundation of it.The chapter 1 of this paper have a overview in the application of Virtual Reality in the medical field. The chapter 2 introduced the software of MATLAB, and researched the application of MATLAB in the field of 3D reconstruction. The chapter 3 introduced the 3-D Visualization method of surface rendering and volume rendering. In the end, research the commonly used volume rendering method with a concrete software. The chapter 4 introduced the work of using VRML in medical body data 3D reconstruction which realized by us. The chapter 5 introduced stereology and the application of it in the field of medical measurement. The chapter 6 prospects the application of VR technology in medical field in future.
