With the development of technology and public security awareness,the video monitoring system has been widely used in the social product and the life domain.Due to the advantages of rapid deployment,good mobility and low cost of maintenance,the wireless video monitoring system has been taking place of the wired video monitoring system.In this paper,the embedded multi-channel wireless video monitoring system is deeply investigated.Firstly,the relevant theories involved in the system design process are introduced and the hardware as well as software platform of the system are demonstrated according to the design requirements.The design of hardware platform includes selections of embedded processors,video signal acquisition equipment and wireless transmission scheme,while the software platform is majored on selections of embedded operating system and the construction of the embedded software platform.Secondly,the design of the video capturing and compression terminal,the server and the video monitoring user terminal are completed with C++ on the Qt creator development platform.The V4L2 video interface specification,the OpenMAX multimedia application framework standard and the RTP protocol are utilized in the video capturing and compression terminal to achieve functions as video signal acquisition,H.264 hardware encoding and network transmission.The server uses socket to receive data and forward relative video information as required.The video monitoring user terminal utilizes ffmpeg open source library and Qt graphical interface application development framework to complete the H.264 decoding of video signal,the application interface design and the display of video signal respectively.Finally,the system modules are tested by progressive debugging.The system has characteristics of small volume,rapid deployment and good mobility.It can also expand the number of channels of the video monitoring according to the needs of system.In addition,the designed system uses hardware encoding method to compress the original video signal,which can reduce the burden of embedded processors and has certain reference value to the research of H.265 codec.
