It is a tendency to use embedded network technology in the field monitoring and supervision. The Embedded Network Video Monitoring System is a new technique product that electronics technique, calculator technique, correspondence technique joining together with automatization technique and developing quickly. Embedded network technology will change the architecture of monitoring and supervision system, and it will satisfy the expansibility , distribution, real time in modern monitoring and controlling. It can be extensively applied in telecommunication, power, transportation, bank, irrigation works, intelligence mansion etc. In this premise, this dissertation, an Embedded Video Monitoring System Based on Network is designed. The hardware platform of the system is developed based on high performance embedded processor and specific video compression chips. The MPEG-4 technology, embedded Linux, and stream media technology are used in designing the system. By this system, we can do video monitoring all over the network. The system has the characteristics of small volume, high stable image quality, long distance monitor, etc. So it has good applied and developmental outlook.This paper, first analyzes the history-development of video monitoring technology and the current research status of embedded system. And then, correlative techniques of Embedded Networking Video Monitoring System are introduced. The deep research into general embedding processor and specific video compression chip are conducted. Then the total system design and function definition is discussed in detail. Based on the background mentioned above, and the deep market investigation along with collective evidence, this paper studies the schemes of the popular embedded system and MPEG-4 specific video compression chips. On embedded system, the system confirms the schemes of constructing an embedded web server in ARM S3C2510 hardware platform.
