A Study Of China's National Image And America's National Image Projected By The Mongolia Media The UB Post(2015.1-2017.1)

With the globalization of economy,technology and information,the ever-present interaction and connecting between countries is being experiencing.And in the communication competition between countries,the power of the national image has been greatly presented,the crucial and pivotal status of which emerges.For national image research,especially research on China's national image shaping and spreading,although there have been many excellent research achievements,most of them were about the mainstream media of the United States,Britain,Japan and South Korea and other developed capitalist countries.And research of smaller countries,such as Mongolia,whose activity on the international stage is not focused,is rare.But,in truth,whether from the perspective of political or economic development strategy,for China and the United States,their "neighbor" Mongolia is a country which is of great significance.Given,the complex and subtle relationship between the three countries,this paper tries to expand the research train of thought for national image study,through inquiring into the Mongolia media's shaping and broadcasting of the national image of China and the United States.Considering the availability of the study sample,in order to make the image of China and the image of the United States in a third country's media can be clearly presented,this study make Mongolian mainstream English newspaper The UB Post(January 2015-January 2017)as the object.And based relevant theories and methods of journalism and communication,through content analysis steps including coding the contents,building up categories,quantitative statistics,this paper explores the summary of Mongolia media's constructing of China's and America's national images from several aspects such as the focus topic,the focus range,attitude orientation.And then this study concludes that the image of The United States is: advanced democratic country,complicated social problem and the "Allies" of Mongolia.And on the other hand,China's image is: a rich neighbor that is prosperous and stable,a neighbor that is both lovely and horrible,and a neighbor that is danger and domineering.Moreover,for possible and potential reasons of the formation of this kind of phenomenon,this paper carry on the analysis from several aspets including Mongolian own circumstances,historical factors,the international political game and cooperation and so on.Finally,it puts forward improvement suggestions about improving national image and summarizes this paper,reflects on the lack and makes prospects for the follow-up research.
