With the development of the integrated construction work of city water and the continuous development of business and information construction requirements,it becomes very important to achieve the integrated and modern management for the water supply,rain and sewage pipe network.Comprehensive management of water pipeline is the trend of water management,which calls for an overall construction from multiple aspects,such as the management system,management policy,management method,basic plan,etc.Therefore,it is very urgent to establish an efficient and practical water comprehensive pipeline information management system by means of science and technology.The newly established system can be more efficient in updating,maintaining and managing the water pipelines,and can ensure the safety,high efficiency and controllable operation of the pipeline.On this basis,the comprehensive application of comprehensive network management could be achieved,which could effectively provide information services for the planning,construction and maintenance of the integrated pipeline network.Therefore,the management of urban water supply and drainage pipeline could be more effective,orderly,convenient and comprehensive.Based on the actual demand of water supply network in Kunshan City,this paper designs and implements an integrated water management information system based on ArcGIS platform.The development and implementation of the system has improved the regulatory efficiency of water pipeline.In additon,it can also provide data support and security for the design,construction,operation and maintenance for the pipeline of each management authority.The main contents of this paper are listed as follows:(1)Based on the needs of the actual business and management of Kunshan water,the general requirements of the system construction,system function,and system user were analyzed.In addition,modelling for part of the function requirements were conducted,which clarified the demands of the system and can guide the system design and development.(2)Combined with the characteristics of the water pipeline data,a data structure table,with consistent structure and complete information,was built.Besides,the pipeline database was also established by combining the ArcGIS spatial database engine ArcSDE and SQL Server database,which could provide a good data base for the analysis and management of the network statistics.(3)Based on the systematic demand analysis,the functions of the system,such as,map browsing,query statistics,edit pipeline,pipeline analysis,operation monitoring were researched and designed.According to each function module,design activity diagram was designed to show the functions and processing logic series it contains.(4)In the stage of system implementation,the key functions of the system were illustrated based on the realization method and realization of the system.The logics of each module was displayed by activity diagrams.(5)After completing the system development,the function test and load test of the system were conducted.The test results indicated that the overall operation of the system was proved to be well,which can meet the needs of water users' management and business.The construction of the system provides an accurate and real-time information for the water management department.In addition,it can improve the management level and efficiency,which will meet the water sector's demand for management,decision-making,design,require maintenance,repair and construction,and can provide a good solution.
