In recent years,with the rise of Internet of things,the extensive application of wireless communication and cloud computing,the intelligent home technology has been rapidly developed.As a part of Intelligent home,the intelligent automatic meter reading has attracted the people's more and more attention.There are many defects for the traditional manual meter reading system,the staffs not only have large workload,but also cannot accurately access to the gas information in time.At the same time,it also imposes huge human and financial burden to the gas companies.The wired meter reading system has the problem of complex wiring,and brings the difficulty for the inspection and maintenance.Meanwhile,users and managers also put forward to some new requirements for the gas measurement,on the scientific pricing according to the amount of gas used,the time of the use,the environmental impacts and the quality of the gas.Therefore,more and more consideration of the wireless network technology were applied in gas meter reading system.Through the network service system,gas usage amount and pricing were realized in the network service system to replace the manual metering and calculation.This paper presents a novel scheme in that the network directly reads the gas meter based on Wi-Fi network.MSP430F4152 microcontroller is used with very low power consumption.The gas' s usage information is collected by the reed sensor,and the Wi-Fi module is used to connect the remote server via a wireless local area network router in real-time.Then,the gas' s usage information is directly uploaded to the remote server.Through the web server,the users can view the gas usage information at any time.The main contributions of this paper are listed below.First of all,both the hardware and software of the gas meter equipment were designed,mainly to complete the information data collection,the transmission between the gas meter equipment and Wi-Fi wireless module,IC card data reading and writing,and the LCD display.In addition,we designed and implemented the power management,voltage detection,motor drive and other peripheral function circuits.Then,we developed the firmware of the Wi-Fi,and realized the communication between MSP430F4152 and the Wi-Fi module,and the communication of the Wi-Fi module to remote server.Also the management system was designed to complete the gas meter terminal data acquirement,storage and display.After the system functions were realized,a number of measures were applied to minimize the power consumption.Further,the tests for the whole functions of the gas meter equipment were done,especially for the Wi-Fi communication and power consumption of the system.The results show that the equipment can work properly and the power consumption can meet the requirements.Finally,a further analysis and prospects were made on the data transmission security,the equipment compatibility,the power supply,and other aspects of the gas system.
