With the increasing demand for optical fiber and cable,recognition of product defects workload for optical fiber manufacturing enterprises has also dramatically increased,and there is no effective detection methods currently.In order to improve the detection accuracy and the intelligent level of enterprises,development of online intelligent recognition system for surface defects of optical fiber and cable is imperative.The paper mainly researches the design of the system hardware part.Analyz the lighting scheme and design the high brightness and uniform illumination system in order to get high-quality clear image;Design and manufacture constant current source to supply stable voltage and invariable current for lighting system and ensure stable work of lighting source;Design two kinds of image acquisition system structures,one is to take a full range of optical fiber cable by four high-speed cameras,the other one is to use the plane mirror and lens,prism to replace the camera to complete the image acquisition which can reduce costs;Pictures are going to be processed by computer,the system will promote and record the position of defect if it was found,defective images are stored in the computer and can be called for review.This paper studied problems from six aspects which are the layout of the light source,the design of the structure,the choice of the hardware,the design of the circuit and the improvement and optimization,developed the experimental prototype which is in trial operation in enterprise by the combination of theory and experiment.
