The Study On Journalist Stigma In The Cyberspace

The traditional stigmatized is a lable that the superiority group unidirectionally attach disgrace and shame to the weak group,resulting in the process of the unfair treatment by the society.In the network virtual space,considering the influence of social transformation and contradictory aggravation,the cyberspace stigma subverts the structure of dual opposite of the traditional stigma.The relatioship of stigma will disinter and shape,and its power produce fundamentally reveese.The weak group gives a stigma to the authority and the strong group by using the power of the cyberspace empowerment.So,the stigma of cyberspace has been normal,moving into the stigma content growing,the stigma object expanding,the way of stigma growing and the risk of stigma expanding contiously.In the traditional communication environment,owning a greater say and elevated status,the journalist is given a label of “social conscience”,“crowned king”,“the lookouts of the society” and so on.In the cyberspace communication environment,the general public is endowed with a certain right of discourse transmission,and they have a chance to express their views and dissatisfaction to journalists who own an image of communicators,using a way of jocosity to construct stigma for journalists,for example,there are some labels to journalists: “prostitutes”,“the press”,“CCAV”,and “traitor media”,creating stereotypes,prejudice and discriminate,forming a setup where the public generally participate.In the diachronic observation,based on time and the significant events as the main line,using Text Analysis and Case Study,we find there are three stages in the process of the journalists' cyberspace stigma.The three stages are the derogation of individual journalist's the status variation in the forming stage,the stereotype of journalists' negative images in establishing phase and social isolation and reject to the journalists in the solidifying stage.Moreover,the posture of each stage can be closely related to the development of the cyberspace.At the same time,considering the professional feature of journalist,its stigma often causes news reporter.Adding to the cyberspace's covenant—lite and convenience,the communication features of journalists' cyberspace stigma present some features which low ignition triggering stigma alliance,the connections between stigma of journalist and group identification.On the basis of empirical study,we find the social factor is greater than individual factor in the journalists' cyberspace stigma.The main social factors are group properties and anonymity of the cyberspace.Combining with netizens scoring,we find the cyberspace anonymity make netizens more audacious and radical.And their behaviors and words may be more easily extreme.At the same time,it is combined with cyberspace interview to 15 media worker,finding the cyberspace stigma of journalists will bring their profession trouble and ennui,furthermore,with the extension of the cyberspace stigma,the stigma gradient will superposition,eventually leading to the lack of society trust.
