Research On The Stigma Phenomenon Of The Intellectuals In The Cyberspace

In traditional sense, intellectuals are regarded as the people who have lot of knowledge. Intellectuals play an important role in our society. They criticize the social abuses, and give their opinions and suggestions to the development of the society.The group of intellectuals should enjoy a high reputation, but in the cyberspace today,the public evaluation about intellectuals are lower and lower. Some people even start malicious disparaging, insulting the intellectual group. So the core issue of this paper is: What factors have contributed to the stigmatization of the intellectuals in the cyberspace.In addition to the parts of Introduction and Conclusion, the main content of the article is divided into five chapters:Chapter I: Introduction to the definition of related concepts. Intellectuals is a fuzzy concept, before the research we should clarify the concepts of intellectual and stigmatization.From chapter II to V are logically juxtaposed, I will research different factors promoting the stigmatization of intellectuals.Chapter II: analysis on their own factors. In the process of shifting from the traditional society to the network society, the status and role of intellectuals have changed a lot, their own inappropriate comments and arguments, etc, are all important factors.Chapter III: analysis on the promoting function of network media. With many various features from traditional media, the network media are more willing to report negative news of the intellectual group. At the same time, intellectuals group keep close touch with the general public on the We Media, these two factors are pushing intellectuals group to be stigmatized in the cyberspace.Chapter IV: analysis on the pushing factor of Populism in the cyber space. In the Populism, intellectuals are on the opposition of the mass, so the Populism is an important factor.Chapter V: The fight for discursive power between the intellectuals and public.The cyberspace is open and free, everybody can get news and knowledge easily.Intellectuals do not monopoly news and knowledge, so the public will fight with intellectuals to get more discursive, and stigmatization is their weapon.
