Xu Shidong is the famous bibliophile in Ningbo of Qing Dynasty,he was born in the literary family,since childnood under the influence of his father,he liked to read good books.He founded three libraries in Ningbo,respectively the Chengxi Cottage,Shuibei Pavilion,and the especially famous Yanyu Library,which established his famous bibliophile position.In the past,Xu Shidong's life and his three libraries were mainly introduced,and the collection was less,and the research on the academic achievements of the author was relatively less.This paper tries to introduce Xu Shidong's life experience,the rise and fall of three library and his academic achievement,focus on the intrinsic motivation of Xu Shidong's collection activities,analyze the features of books he collected,introduce his academic achievement on the basis of collection.This article is divided into three aspects,first of all,through the analysis of Xu Shidong's life experience and family background,it is found that the main motivation for the collection of books is his father's influence and his interest in reading.Secondly,through the introduction of the rise and fall of three libraries,this article shows the indomitable spirit of collection and analyzes Xu Shidong's collection faith and characteristics of books.Finally,Xu Shidong's inscriptions and notes after reading books are introduced and his academic achievements are discussed.
