Private collection of books is a kind of activity to collect, preserve, arrange and studythe ancient books as well as spreading culture. As an unique and significant social activity,private collection of books runs through the entire feudal society. Studying the book content,book method and spiritual of the ancient private bibliophile is of great importance to thecollection, publication and protection of modern books. What’s more, we can inherit theclassic Chinese culture better.Since the late Qing Dynasty, academic researches of the private collection of books haveexperienced three climaxes. Currently, the researches of the theory of regional privatecollection of books are all overall researches to one area, only a few scholars study moredetailed comparative research about a regional private collection of books. So I hope to find anew point of view to go on more detailed research about private collection of books.Information about the Huizhou private bibliophile is distributed among the local historybooks, genealogy multiple documents, notes, etc. In this paper, by the use of methods ofinduction and deduction, we give a systematic study of the geographic distribution of theHuizhou private book collection. The first two chapters mainly focus on the overallarrangement and introduction of the development context of Huizhou private bookcollections.Chapter3is the quantity statistics to the private bibliophile of different counties, visuallypresented the differences among the book collecting condition of the Huizhou six counties.Shexian County, Xiuning and Wuyuan is the gathering place of the Huizhou privatebibliophile, among them, the Shexian is number1. However, the number of privatebibliophile in Keemun, Yixian County and Jixi is relatively small and also distributerelatively scattered.Then, from the outer traffic condition, commercial development degree, cultureatmosphere, distribution of scholars, famous families of the six counties and their privatecountermark books, tradition of collecting books and so on to discuss the reason for thegeographic unbalance of private collection of books in Huizhou. Chapter4focuses on twopoints—the compilation to “complete library in the four branches of literature” by collectors in Huizhou and their contribution to local academic development to discuss the culturalcontribution made by the book collectors here.
