Zhang Jinwu is a famous bibliophile of the Qing Dynasty. His hometown of Changshu has deep cultural background and academic atmosphere, and his ancestors are very fond of collecting books, and his uncle Zhang Haipeng studies hard and rigorous, and his teacher Huang Tingjian has deep academic attainments, and his wife Ji Jing he has broad knowledge and shares everything with him, and his best friend Chen Zizhun encourages each other. On the way to success, these plays an important role. He can’t make such achievement without these valuable factors.Zhang Jinwu has more than 80000 volumes books that mainly inherits from his father and grandfather, and spares no effort to buy, to borrow and to transcribe others’ books. Overall, Zhang Jinwu’s collection of thoughts, content collection, and collection of space are distinctive. That also leads him to make a great contribution to the development of library undertakings and bibliography.Zhang Jinwu adhered to the "hidden but for reading, but not the secret" collection of thoughts, that also determined the enlightened collection idea, namely "to share the books with others, to propagate the classics, to inherit the culture of our nation". All Zhang Jinwu’s collection practice followed this enlightened collection idea, his enlightened collection concept in favor of academic circles; Zhang Jinwu collecting books based on the Song and Yuan Dynasties old books, Confucian classics and Jin’s books, and strived to return to the original, respected the original code. From research and innovation, he judged the rare standard quite excellent, and his original creation of bibliography style much later praised; Zhang Jinwu made classification storage, only hope the books’ extent of the damage to a minimum. his mind really be careful. He contributed to the preservation of our cultural classics.The thesis is around the topic--the book collector Zhang Jinwu. It mainly explores his book-collecting activities, academic achievements and contributions to our literature and bibliography. The paper consists of five chapters: the first one expounds the selected topic reason and the significance of this paper, research status, research contents, research methods and innovation points of this paper. The second one introduces Zhang Jinwu, including his family background, life and works. The third one explores Zhang Jinwu’s book-collecting activities including his collecting channels and characteristics. The fourth one explores Zhang Jinwu’s academic achievements, discussing on the poems, collation, textual research, phonology, exegesis bibliography, bibliography and so on. The fifth part shows that Zhang Jinwu has made contribution to and has great influence upon our book-collecting career and bibliography, discussing from his contribution to saving our cultural classics, his collection view and profound academic attainments.
