Gesture Interaction Design And Research Of Touch-screen Smartphone For The Elderly

Accompanying with the approaching of modern information technology,the era of touch-screen mobile phones are developing promptly in an irresistible momentum.Because of the increasing aging in China,it is underestimated that the great demands for touch-screen mobile phones among the old will be brought.As a new interactive way of touch-screen mobile phone,gesture takes the advantage of being intuitive,portable,direct and integrated,so that the old can get rid of the shackles of keys and achieve the interactive operation in a more natural way,which has not only improved the availability of mobile phone interaction among them,but also increased the efficiency and taste in the process of using touch-screen phones for the older people.For the sake of proposing a reasonable and effective method for gesture interaction design for the elders,the paper is to explore from the perspective of their operation behavior and the requirements for gesture design.Both of physical and mental changes caused by the aging and the problems encountered in the use of touch-screen mobile phones are discussed in the paper.After summarizing the research status,classification and problems of touch-screen gesture interaction,it is going to make an analysis from the standpoint of the behavior of the elderly users.First of all,the research gathers and compares the operation gestures which are used in higher frequency,and extracts nine sets of operation command with inconsistent gestures on the basis of the gesture features of three carrying platforms including IOS,Android and Windows Phone.Based on this,it collects the command action of the optional gesture operation and makes the questionnaire.Through the questionnaire survey of the elderly,their operation on the touch-screen phones gesture interaction is found,and the gesture behavior preference of the touch-screen phones gesture interaction is concluded.After analyzing the behavior of their operation and getting their demands for gesture interaction,the data results are applied to the design of gesture interaction based on the qualitative analysis of Kano model.Finally,it is to test and evaluate the feasibility of touch-screen mobile phone gesture interaction design method by designing the prototype,further verifying the effectiveness of the design approaches and the related research conclusions drawn in the research.
