Power line communications(PLC)technology which uses power lines as the medium to transmit signals is one of the communication methods.Indeed,for some decades ago,Power line wires have been used for low-speed data communication.However,the power line has largely been dismissed as being too noisy and unpredictable to be useful as a practical high-speed communication channel.On the other hand,recent advances in communication and modulation methodologies,as well as in adaptive digital signal processing and error detection and correction,have opened the way for the development of effective medium access control and physical layer protocols that support power line communications(PLC)networks operating at speeds comparable to those obtained from specially wired and more recent wireless local area network.In 2010,the Home Plug Powerline Alliance announced the completion of the Home Plug GreenPHY specification based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM),emerged as the leading standard for implementing Smart Grid functionality across in-home powerline-based networks.In recent years,the state grid company request using broadband low voltage power carrier for the electricity information collection,mainly used for data communication between the concentrator and the zone area,solved the traditional GPRS communication faults,such as high costs,instability,and low speed and so on.Not only used power line to transfer the data that is long distance,high speed and stable,but also meet the requirements of low power and low cost to the green grid.From the perspective of hardware,qualcomm QCA7000 chip with the Home Plug GreenPHY specification is the core,the design meet the requirements of power carrier units for the state grid.Firstly,the research background is introduced;include the demand of the smart grid and the development of Home Plug series standard process.Secondly,analyzed the Home Plug GreenPHY standards,mainly introduces the physical layer and MAC layer of Home Plug GreenPHY,the Power Save mode,and the comparison with Home Plug AV.Thirdly,put forward the application solutions of Home Plug GreenPHY,introduces the application in the electrical information collection.Fourthly,designed the hardware of Home Plug GreenPHY carrier unit,introduced the core chip that is Qualcomm QCA7000 and part of carrier unit circuit.Finally,the test result of Home Plug GreenPHY carrier unit in the practical environment is introduced.After the system performance test report,the design carrier unit performance has reached the state grid company's product performance.Carrier unit is actually used in the village of electricity information acquisition,realized the aim of long distance,high speed and stable data transmission by low voltage power line.
