Reading is an important sign of the development of national civilization, is an important way for people to get all kinds of information and knowledge, and it always runs through human behavior. 21st century is the era of knowledge economy, the development of science and technology brings out a variety of information. People's act of developing and utilizing the information resource becomes more and more active.With the increasing amount of reading information, scholarly reading with the nature of research is becoming more and more important. Scholarly reading is a professional reading reserve subjecting in the scholarly field of study, including behavior of obtaining scholarly information, evaluating scholarly information and using scholarly information.Its purpose is to accumulate professional knowledge, and improve the scholarly level. It's an important basis for scientific research.With the rapid growth of China's postgraduate enrollment and the innovation of training mode, postgraduates in university have become an important reserve force which cannot be ignored in the research team in China. As one of the most active users of scholarly information in our higher education, postgraduates have the strongest demand of knowledge information. Researching postgraduates' scholarly reading behavior can find their difference, grasp their characteristic, and cognize their behavior. It's conducive for the university library to update and improve the information service mode of the existing, so as to better meet the information demand of postgraduate user. At the same time,it also can make the connotation of research on information service and user more deeply. Therefore, this paper attempts to carry out the investigation and analyze the research.This paper overviews the relevant literature on information behavior and scholarly reading. On the basis of Wilson information behavior model, this paper attempts to build a framework of postgraduate scholarly reading behavior which is improved by using OCLC "scientific information framework". The core of this paper is the survey about postgraduate's scholarly reading behavior and demand of different discipline. In order to get the most comprehensive data, the survey chooses three representative university including Wuhan University, Central China Normal University and The Huazhong University of Science and Technology,and divides the investigation objects into natural science,social science and humanity according to the classification standard of the national classification of discipline and university. Then according to the statistical result of the questionnaire, the paper does difference analysis about scholarly reading behavior and demand of postgraduate of different subject and summarizes the characteristic and influence factor. Finally, this paper gives some reference opinions and countermeasures from the perspective of postgraduate education and guidance, cultivating unit teaching and management, university library construction and service to improve postgraduate's scholarly reading level, and meet the demand of scientific research.
