With the development of wireless networks, the 4th generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology (4G) is becoming more and more popular. 4G fulfills the new requirements of network services,providing uniform standards and better network performance like larger capacity, larger coverage and higher data speeds. The standard 4G system can be LTE-A, which has numerous excellent technologies and brings a significant performance leap in wireless networks. During the construction of 4G network, wireless network planning and simulation platform is needed to test where and how these new technologies should be deployed.Based on the wireless network planning and simulation platform,many key technologies of LTE-A were discussed and three of them were modeled in virtual networks, which were the Carrier Aggregation (CA),the Relay and the Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC). These modeling schemes were implemented by using the map data of a city,simulating optimized heterogeneous networks with a mix of macrocells with low power nodes such as picocells and new relay nodes, designing required auxiliary models like propagation model, network business model and UEs motion model, coding with NET framework finally. In the implementation process, several types of CA were considered to make full use of scattered spectrum resources and get higher transmission speeds. Various application scenarios of Relay were tried to bring the network closer to the user and improve link quality. The techniques of ICIC were used to coordinate the interference between UEs in adjacent cells or edge UEs and central UEs or in the same cell by configuring different radiated power and using orthogonal spectrum.The program was verified to be successful and the modeling schemas were tested to prove the significance of deploying those key technologies.The results showed that the CA, the Relay and the ICIC could improve almost all aspects of the network performance. It is proves that the simulation system is of great significance to the real network planning and optimization.
