Subject to the rugged environment and limited survey means, it greatly depends on the underwater acoustic equipment in marine survey, especially in the deep ocean. The display and control software is able to make a real-time display of the data received by the underwater acoustic detection device. So a high-performance display and control software of forward-looking sonar could improve performance of the equipment to some extent and make the data more useful.The design and implementation of the display and control software was introduced in detail, and every functional module was analyzed in-depth. The interface of the software was designed with MFC. This design not only compromises multi-threading technology, network technology and serial port technology, but also displays three-dimensional viewing of the target and environment by OpenGL. After processing, the gray-scale value information of 2D image is used as elevation information of 3D image. Therefore this software shows a more clear and intuitive underwater world. Also after pseudo-color transform and double buffer drawing were introduced into this paper, the overall performance of display and control software was improved. To improve the ability of image processing of the software and applying image enhancement algorithm, this paper also explored several variants based on median filter algorithm. By comparing the variants, it improved multistage nonlinear weighted average median filter algorithm. It also made some research in target decision algorithm and validated the effectiveness of the algorithms from this paper.Finally, the software runs well after repeated test, the algorithms are efficient and stable,all achieve expected goals.
