The research of information behavior has been paid more and more attention by scholars both at home and abroad.At present,most researches focus on information need and information retrieval.In this thesis,after literature review of information behavior,it is found that,as the last part of information behavior,the research on information use behavior is generally less.However,the use of information is none other than the key part whether the knowledge can apply to the power of living,studying and working.So doing the research on information use behavior is a very meaningful thing.Based on the information use behavior,this article sets about the internationals students in China,and to study on the information use behavior of the international students.On the one hand,the quantity of the international students in China is large,and this collective is non-negligible.On the other hand,the group is exotic,who have a cross-language and cross-cultural background,so that the collective comes with many special attributes.And now lots of researches for international students are from the perspective of linguistics and sociology.That means this study on the information use behavior of the international students is an innovative point.The study uses the method of interview and the method of questionnaire.First of all,conduct the interview with the international students.And then based on the contents of the interviews,the questionnaire was developed.The questionnaire was distributed in Ningbo University,and 220 were collected,159 were valid and 150 were valid.The effective recovery rate was 94.34%.Through the investigation,it's found that:the international students gain and use information mainly from the network,media,family and friends,newspapers and magazines and books;news and political information is the most difficult to use,the following is life information and academic information;the higher education background,the more difficult they feel to use the academic information,in other word,the higher education background,the higher requirements on using academic information;the degree of using information for international students is positively related to the level of their Chinese level.To a great extent,the international students agree that cultural differences have a certain influence in absorbing knowledge,understanding and using information.The information screening ability of the international students is poor.They are not accustomed to the use of Chinese localization search engine.At the end of this thesis,it discusses the difficulties of students in the process of information utilization,mainly language barriers,cross-cultural communication barriers and information system interaction barriers.It also puts forward the future improvement strategies,including the provision of multi-language information support,cross-cultural communication diversification development,the improvement of the interactive information system and the improvement of the utilization level of the students themselves.
