As an important area of user study, information seeking behavior research always attracts the most attention in library and information science. With the development of modern information technology, the information environment has been changed. So, more and more scholars focus on the new characteristics and disciplinarians have emerged. Furthermore, graduate students have different information needs and seeking behavior from other information users. A study on these aspects can expand the theories of information seeking behavior, provide references for information systems design and information resource allocation. The study examines the scholar information needs and information seeking behavior of postgraduates and doctoral students, discusses the characteristics and influence factors of them, and finds the diversities of different subjects with some research methods such as Bibliometrics, Interview and Questionnaites. Based on the study results, the researcher tentatively sets up the model of information seeking behavior for graduate students. At last, the researcher provides suggestions on how to enhance the graduate students'abilities of scholar information seeking, how current information resource and systems can be improved to better serve graduate students, and makes suggestions for the improvement of library service and technologies that will help meet the needs of future graduate students. |
