In the era of global competition,the city's image has become an important part of the city's comprehensive competitiveness and G20 summit,as a city event,provides an important opportunity for the communication of Hangzhou city image.In this background,this paper explored G20 Summit and Hangzhou city image communication.G20 Summit is an embedded communication of Hangzhou city image in nature and produced a wide range of media effect,providing an opportunity for the improvement of Hangzhou's soft power and hard power and internationalization of the city's image.G20 Summit can promote the reform of Hangzhou city space landscape and enrich the connotation of city image;one the other hand,it can improve citizens' participation sense,belonging sense and create city culture identity.G20 Summit,as a typical "city event",has the feature of mediumlization.Summit itself is a media in a broad sense,bearing Hangzhou city concept,feature and needs,and possessing features of concentricity,interactivity in the communication of Hangzhou city image.Meanwhile,Summit is a "target of communication”of mass media and forms a communication field of city image.It promotes the audience to keep a watchful eye on Hangzhou and improves the communication effect of city image.Starting from 5W model of communication science,this paper is to discuss the general principle of city events propagating city image by combining "agenda-setting","false environment" theories and analyzing communication subject,communication content,communication channels,communication audience,communication effect and existing problems of Hangzhou city image during G20 using content analysis,case research,etc.The main body of the paper is divided into four parts:theoretical construction of theoretical construction communication,process analysis of Summit propagating Hangzhou city image,existing problems and strategy discussion of Summit propagating Hangzhou city image,Hangzhou city image molding and communication in post-G20 era.By analyzing Hangzhou city image molding and communication current situation during G20 Summit,it is to provide reference for the practices of using city events to propagate city image.
