In recent years, with the development of electronic technology, the ultra low-power battery-powered data collection terminal used in IoT(Internet of Things) application is also increasing. It's self-powered by battery, small size, easy to maintain, and low price. In IoT projects, the ultra low-power battery-powered data collection terminal demand is also increasing. The primary works in this thesis are presented as follows:(1) By taking a full consideration to the needs of flexibility, versatility and efficiency, using the STM32 series ARM processor as the main chip system, selected SIM900A,the widely used module, as the GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) communication module.(2) The embedded operating systems use uC/OS-?. In order to achieve ultra-low power feature, some hook functions are rewritten.(3) Hardware and software development platform using open-source software. Software using Eclipse development environment, and hardware environment using kicad circuit design software.(4) To ensure the system functions for ultra-low power requirements, the hardware and software design are both focus on this topic, and optimized hardware and software with each other. The design discussed in this thesis, has been used in real products. And the product (RTU) has been used in some projects. The RTU collect data and send to database center throw GPRS. Benefit from the ultra-low power design, the RTU can work for two years just use battery only, it's small and easy to install. In projects it works well and reached the design requirements.
