Bibliometric analysis is based on indicators and offers a powerful set of methods and measures that can be used to assess the state of a certain scientific discipline and study the structure and process of scholarly communication with the statistical and mathematical procedures. In addition, this type of analysis provides useful information to detect scientific tendencies within a discipline. In the literature,it has been called many other names, such as bibliometric overview, bibliometric study, scientometric analysis, and so on,and its research contents include wide research categories(e.g.,stem cell research, tsunami research,Medical research, nano research).Similarly,in the broad field of Economics&Business, there are also many bibliometric studies concerning special topics including health economics, ecological economics, finance, financial crisis, economics, management, performance management, operations management,IT innovation, social entrepreneurship. However, the vast majority of these research were about the one subject of Economics&Business, while few research concerned about the broad fields.Given the highly cited papers are those which have been highly approved by the peers of the field, and also the important knowledge resources of the field.Highly cited papers in ESI database are those top 1%the most cited papers over the last 10 years in a certain field.Bibliometric analysis of highly cited papers are applied to many fields, but there is no such analysis applied to Economics&Business fields.Economics&Business have always been hot subjects in the field of social science research, therefore, the insightful and overall studies on Economics&Business is very essential.Based on the highly cited papers(HCPs)in the board field of Economics&Business from 2005 to 2014 in ESI database, this paper analyzed the performance of publication outputs, authorship pattern and research collaboration, and research hotspots in Economics&Business. Moreover, based on clustering analysis generated by Bicomb and SPSS,we detected that research hotspots in Economics&Business mainly focused on six subject categories:globalization and economic growth, enterprise system, performance, innovation, global environmental problems, and global financial crisis.
