Research On The Content And Form Of Highly Cited Papers In Library And Information Science Journals

Along with the birth of SCI created by E.Garfield in 1963,Citation analysis is into the practical stage. Citation analysis has now become the main method of Literature metrology, widely used in science communication research. The most influential and widely used research of the citation analysis is citation evaluation,but because of the roughness of citation data, the evaluation function has been questioned. Based on this.this paper trying to use the highly cited papers of library and information science as example, through specific empirical analysis to reveal the relationship between the quality of these academic papers and cited and the formal characteristics.In this paper, as the periodicals of library and Information science from 2010-2011 in CSSCI for the research object,search the quantity of this papers'cited in 2005-2009, then get the 133 highly cited papers that are cited more than 15. By keyword frequency analysis, concept analysis, content analysis, analyze the highly cited papers on the subject and the reference behavior, reveal the relationship between the quality of these academic papers and cited and the formal characteristics.At the same time from the paper whether is the fund paper, the paper authors and their institutions, the perspectives of references in papers and so on, analyze the content and form of the 133 highly cited papers.The conclusion is:1. The subject of highly cited papers are the hot topics in library and information science. Combining the analysis of institution and author, we know that most of these highly cited papers from the prestigious professors and researchers,mostly from universities and its subsidiary bodies.But more often, the quality of citations may not be as high proportional relationship between the number of cited, narrow,unpopular, difficult topic may not be highly applicated. Overall, the research capacity of public libraries is weak.2. The vast proportion of the citation behavior is positive citation and depth citation in highly cited papers, but there are also some negative references and shallow references, cited the neutral reference and a considerable proportion of moderate. The positive reference and depth reference that is in the majority of citation can evaluate the quality of paper.3. In the genre, the most of highly cited paper is special type articles, review and comment on type of article is small, excellent review and comment articles is less. The development of library and information science has reached a critical time that need a theoretical summary and academic criticism, and our criticism is not enough active, excellent review articles and academic criticism articles are little, which deserves our attention and reflection.4. Under normal circumstances, the fund paper has a certain high quality, the research subjects are often represented by a "commanding heights. " Many academic journals will raise the amount of fund paper to improve journal quality as an important means. But through the investigation we found that the proportion of fund papers in the 133 highly cited papers is small, there may be "highbrow" reasons, so workers in the selection of journal papers should be a correct view of the value of the fund papers.5. The average citation per highly cited papers and the use of foreign language documents level is higher than the average social citation level. The ability of authors of highly cited papers that use foreign Languages and use advanced reference on the academic results is better than most scholars'. At the same time more and more scholars research information required from the network. However, good and bad online information, unaccessibility and unreliability, so the bibliographic citation format of network information, traceability and building evaluation system of network information resources, need to attract the attention of professional scholars.
