Wireless sensor networks are usually deployed in a certain area to complete the designated monitoring tasks. In order to meet the needs of at any time and any place to get the sensing information of the monitoring area, it is an ideal solution to convergence WSN and internet, however, the traditional IPv4 address is not enough to support the address assignment of a large number of sensor nodes. IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Network(6LoWPAN) is a simple low-cost protocol that allows network devices access internet seamlessly through IPv6 protocol. Compared with other wireless access technologies, the advantage of 6LoWPAN is that sensing node has an independent IPv6 address and can communicate with other IP network directly without complex gateway. By taking advantage of the expansibility of IP network, it is easily to achieve a variety of applications, so it's very suitable for ubiquitous sensor networks.In this paper, we designed a wireless sensor network for smart home application based on the 6LoWPAN technology, realize the real-time access of the information in home environment. The research content of this paper are as follows:(1) According to the characteristics of home environment, we proposed the overall design of wireless sensor network for smart home and analyze the key technology theories to implement the proposed design.(2) According to the application requirements, based on the Contiki operating system, the communication module and the sensor expansion module of the sensor node are designed and implemented.(3) Develop and analysis the realization of USB network card, including the principle of USB communication, device enumeration process, remote network interface protocol(RNDIS) implementation and data transmission process.(4) Relying on the web service of the internet, the overall test verification of the connectivity, functionality and reliability of the unit module and the whole system is carried out. Test results show that the key module is able to implement the data acquisition and transmission reliably and can meet the needs of real-time monitoring of home environment.
