Since the early modern history, every time it came to the key points of national survive, patriotic intellectuals would stand up to run journals to inspire intelligence of the public and mobilize them to save the nation. The Hundred Days Reform brought the first press climax while the break of the anti-Japanese war led to the prosperity of national salvation press. National Resistance Journal was one of the representatives of national salvation press during the anti-Japanese war period. This Journal was combined by Anti-Japan Journal, a semiweekly, and The Entire Nation, a weekly. Taofen Zou and Shi Liu were the chief editors. This Journal mobilized all the Chinese to fight to the end and to uphold democracy and solidarity. National Resistance Journal has been published in Chongqing for 28 months. After revision and innovation, its subscription once reached 300,000 and became the most influential and most popular press in the Kuomintang-ruled areas. It has to be said that the situation of researches on the National Resistance Journal during the Chongqing period is a pity because the former just did researches on the text reorganization or described the history.Taking all the medium texts in 128 issues of National Resistance Journal from 15 October 1938 to 15 February 1941 as the analysis object, this thesis focus on analyzing the text mode and theme, skills and team of communication based on the clarity of the press' development process. The thesis falls into seven parts. The first part is introduction, which describes the researching significance, current researching situation and researching methods. The second part reviews the whole history of National Resistance Journal, including processes of its establishment and migration to the interior, the difficulties met in Chongqing and its suspension of publication by the Kuomintang's attachment, and so on. The third part analyzes the text of this press. Through the comparisons of its 3 revisions, the thesis illustrates its subject and genre feature and does introduction of its battlefield version and popular version and then researches its overall modality. The fourth part analyzes the theme of Chongqing-version National Resistance Journal by splitting the two main topics – the mobilization of resistance and democratic politics – into several aspects, such as the critique of Jingwei Wang's betrayal of China, the propaganda of resistance to the end, the mobilization of the public, the analysis of the positive international status,the focus on the National Political Council and the promotion of constitutionalism. The fifth part focuses on communication skills. It underlines how National Resistance Journal represented its spirit of service. The sixth part does some observation of the press' readers, what's more, it summarized the social organization they belonged to and their social characteristics by analyzing especially. The seventh part is the conclusion, which summarizes the full thesis.
