Now there is an obvious contradiction that the supply of electric power can't meet its needs, and it is very important for the economic use of the electric power. By incomplete statistics, the fans consume about 10% of our country's electric power supply and the three-phases-asynchronous electromotors consume about 60%, so it will have great significance to improve the efficiency of the fan's unit. With integration of the modern testing technology and the computer technology, virtual instrument comes into being. Based on the computer hardware, its testing functions are designed by the software. With combination of virtual instruments and network technology, virtual instrument based on network system is an ineviatable trend of the testing system development. It proposes the building of a fan's unit monitoring and testing system for energy saving by using NI LabVIEW software in this paper.The paper is divided into three parts. The first part introduced the concept of virtual instruments, characteristics, structure and the virtual network equipment-related network technology, described in detail the characteristics of LabVIEW development environment and the plan of remote testing system building; The second part introduces the basic principle of fan's unit efficiency testing, the system hardware is designed according to the system design requirement, and the system software testing modules are also designed based on the virtual instrument, completes the fan's unit efficiency testing. And in the third part, it completes the remote monitor and control by the technology of Web server remote panel, according to the remote testing system requirements.The entire system is easy to operate, low-cost and user-friendly. With web server technology, the user can realize remote monitoring and control by using HTML or remote panel from client server. The system uses a network and modularized design, has great flexibility and expansibility.
