Fan performance testing experiment is an indispensible step in the technology study and production of fan. With the development of the fan technological, its detection technology requirements are also getting higher. Modern fan performance testing is transforming from the traditional manual testing to automatic test. With integration of computer and testing instruments, virtual instrument has emerged as a new testing technology. Virtual instrument makes full use of computer resources, has the user-defined function and a virtual operation panel on the computer. With combination of virtual instruments and network communication technology, network-based virtual instruments came into being, characterized with integrated collection, transmission and processing without geographical, environmental restrictions. Network building of virtual instruments is the key technology in actualizing the remote testing; virtual instrument based on network system is an inevitable trend of testing system development. Based on above discription, building of a long-distance fan testing system programme by using NI LabVIEW software was proposed in this paper.The paper is divided into three parts. The first part introduced the concept of virtual instruments, characteristics, structure and the virtual network equipment-related network technology, described in detail the characteristics of LabVIEW development environment and the plan of remote testing system building; the second part introduced the basic principle of fan performance testing, and the overall structure of the system is constructured on the basis of virtual instrument, the system hardware is designed according to the system design requirement, and the sensors and the data collection card are chosed and the signal modulation circuit is designed. And in the third part, system development, in view of the virtual network equipment was furtherly discussed and studied, according to remote testing system requirements, the software design of fan performance remote testing system is completed by using LabVIEW as a development platform.System takes PC-DAQ mode as virtual instrument structure, and the system mainly complete 2 functions.: First, data collection, the system is modularized and divided into options settings, data collection, data processing, testing data, and other modules, each module usies hierarchical structure of programming to carry out data collection, calculation, processing, storage and display, and other functions and application of least squares fit to fan performance curve, all these are preparation for network communicaiton and thus is the key to the system; Second, the network communications. The network uses communication DataSocket technology provided by LabVIEW system, server and client does not communicate directly, but by loading an independent DataSocket servers and send data to the server, while client also read data from the server, to achieve real-time transmission of data to test remote testing goals.The entire system is user-friendly, easy to operate, and low-cost advantages, while using DataSocket technology do not have to design specialized client program, system design is mainly concerned with the serve. System uses a network and modularized design, therefore the programmes are concise and convenient, has great flexibility and expensibility, vasious service programs can be developed to meet the needs of more users.
